2020 has been a year nothing like any before it. Everyone has had to deal with something new or different. I have to say, even though I am so so lucky to be working from home I am struggling with the isolation and the unknown.
Keeping my lifestyle secure is something that I’d call a main characteristic. Finding security during a time of constant conflicting information and uncertainty is challenging! It has been so important for me to pull back into myself and evaluate opportunities and practice gratitude. Remaining mindful during such challenging times is so unnatural to me. Panic and fear are powerful. Sometimes I lose control of my day and other times I accomplish everything I have planned. The important part in all of this is to remain dedicated to what is best for my children and myself. If I don’t make sure to take care of myself, nobody else is! and most importantly I don’t have the same capability to show up for my children unless I’m ok.
People think self care looks like bubble baths, splurging & clay masks. Sometimes the best self care is Action. In this context it is moving towards what you’re afraid of because even though you’re uncomfortable, you’re moving towards accomplishing your goal that will make your dreams a reality. I think if it’s good for you it’s self care. In this crazy time it’s easy to get stuck & just be a spectator. My goal is to challenge myself to focus more on what I can do today to make my own tomorrow better. I can’t control the entire world, I can’t control what’s happening in the media but I can control myself. So pulling my focus in & making a plan for what I CAN control helps me find peace and honestly helps me sleep at night.
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” - Benjamin Franklin
I want to look back at my previous post where I talk about your daily budget in terms of time. What I have decided is my productive time is best spent alone. Lonely is real but in a pandemic sacrifice is necessary. I think pushing myself to accomplish something new and desirable is always going to be a better choice than wasting time overwhelmed with FOMO. Stop the doom scrolling.
Lesson in Grace - Map it out
I think the steps I have taken towards another adventure will ultimately improve my blog content. My long-term goals are broken into pieces. I truly think the destination is not always what’s important, the journey and how you develop is what matters. When everything is uncertain what’s really important becomes clear. For me it’s important to be a good mom. It’s important for my life to be comfortable. It’s important that my children understand their power. It’s important for us to be healthy and happy. Its important that I feel secure.
“By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you want to be.
Put your future in good hands-your own”
-Mark Victor Hansen
The chaos can control you and consume you. Please don’t live distracted. You can only control so much of your own life. The world is going to keep spinning. If you feel like you have lost control and it scares you, you’re not alone. Take the time to evaluate how lucky you are to have this life you’re living!! and plan where your heart wants you to go, with intention.
